Ha Giang: 10 outstanding events in 2022

6,700 houses built for poor households, policy households; completing 100% of the army recruitment plan in 2022; signing a cooperation agreement on tourism development among 6 provinces of the Northern mountainous region, or Viet Bac, in 2022-2027; and the 8th Buckwheat Flower Festival are some notable events of Ha Giang province in 2022.

1. The Steering Committee for the Housing Construction Support Program for people with meritorious services, poor veterans and poor households has held a conference to review the 2019-2021 period.

After more than 3 years, the Program has built 6,700 houses for 249 policy families, people with meritorious services, 605 poor CCB households, 2,086 poor households in border communes and 3,760 poor households in domestic communes.

2. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, on July 27, the live TV program “Songs of peace” was held at 6 bridge points nationwide. In Ha Giang, the program was broadcast live at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery with touching images of the resilient and undaunted fighting spirit of the army and people in the northernmost land, to firmly defend the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.

3. The session of the 17th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Ha Giang in 2022 - 2027 was held on September 7. The event was attended by 245 delegates representing over 44,000 union members throughout the province. The Congress set out 16 specific targets, 6 key tasks, and 3 breakthroughs in the new period.

4. On April 19, the provincial People’s Committee held a consultation workshop on the planning of Ha Giang in 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, the planning of Ha Giang must be consistent with the national socio-economic development strategy for the period 2021-2030, ensuring consistency with the national planning system; and at the same time, be in line with the sustainable development strategy and the national green growth strategy.

5. Following the success of the 7 previous festivals, the 8th Buckwheat Flower Festival was organized with many interesting experiences. The festival offered an opportunity to promote tourism and honor the traditional cultural values and unique tourism products of Ha Giang.

6. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20), the provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a ceremony to honor 53 outstanding typical teachers, representing nearly 18,000 officials, teachers and employees of the provincial education sector.

7. On April 26, the provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony to receive national intangible cultural heritage certificate of the social customs and beliefs of the Phong Luu Khau Vai Market in Khau Vai commune, the Peace Praising Festival of Giay ethnic people in Meo Vac district, and the opening ceremony of Phong Luu Khau Vai Market in 2022.

The Phong Luu Khau Vai Market, also known as the Hang Phung Liu Market, is held only once a year on the 27th day of the third lunar month. Believed to date back to more than 100 years, it is now a popular attraction for visitors and photographers in Ha Giang province.

Representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded the Certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage to Meo Vac district, Khau Vai and Tat Nga communes. 

8. The six provinces of the Northern mountainous region, including Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang held the 13th tourism program “Through the Viet Bac heritage regions” on August 26-28 in Ha Giang city.

After 13 years of rotating organization, the program has become an annual event, contributing to boosting inter-regional tourism promotion, promoting effective exploitation of tourism potential and strengths of each locality. Within the framework of the program, leaders of the People’s Committees of the 6 provinces signed a cooperation agreement to develop tourism in 2022 - 2027 and announced 3 associated tourism products in the Viet Bac region.

9. On November 24, Ha Giang and the Republic of Korea’s Boeun district signed a seasonal labor cooperation agreement. Under the agreement, the two sides continue tightening the friendship and cooperation relationship between the two local governments, at the same time opening up job opportunities for workers in the province.

10. With synchronous and effective measures and the active participation of the whole political system and people of all walks of life, the province has completed the 2022 army recruitment plan, fulfilling 100%. The whole province has recruited 1,140 citizens with good health, culture and moral qualities.
