Thach Son Than Stone Monument

Thach Son Than is a complex of standing stones in Lung Thang Village, Quyet Tien Commune, Quan Ba Province. Legend has it that, after defeating foreign invaders, a general came to the village and turned into stones to continue protecting the border area as a fence. Therefore, the complex has been named by locals as Thach Son Than (God of Stone Mountain).

Located 40km from the centre of Ha Giang Province, Thach Son Than is the entrance to the karst plateau. The complex includes seven limestone pillars which were formed under seawater around 400 million years ago.

Due to geological changes as time passes, the group of statues emerged on the ground, each facing in all directions, making them look like gods over watching the whole region.

During the blooming season of buckwheat flowers, this place is coated with an attractive beauty when the towering limestones are nestled in the middle of colourful flowers.

In 2014, Thach Son Than was recognised as a provincial scenic spot.

Suoi Thau Meadow

Covering more than 9 hectares, Suoi Thau Meadow is located at an altitude of 1,200m above sea level in Coc Pai Town, Xin Man District. It is quite cold in winter with the temperature sometimes dropping to 1-2C. The highest temperatures in summer are only around 30C.

This meadow is home to 57 Mong ethnic households. The locals continue to preserve their traditional architecture of ‘trinh tuong’ (earthen) houses.

Locals often grow rice, corn, medicinal plants, fruit trees, pine, and cunninghamia. After the harvest season, many types of wild flowers grow and bloom on the abandoned fields, adding to the peaceful and pristine beauty of the land.

Standing in Suoi Thau Meadow, visitors can see the communes of Xin Man District, such as Pa Vay Su, Thu Ta and Coc Re, or part of Bac Ha District in Lao Cai Province.

Dan Pioong Cave

Dan Pioong Cave is located in Muong Village, Bach Ngoc Commune, Vi Xuyen District. This place is known locally as Thung (Hole) Cave because the cave is located inside the Dan Pioong Mountain range, which has a hole passes through its face.

Dan Pioong Cave is a hollow cave formed by the erosion of continuous underground flow thousands of years ago. It boasts a diverse geological structure containing stalactites, pools, dunes, lakes and waterfalls.

The high and wide cave entrance has an arched shape. Standing in front the entrance gate, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Bach Ngoc Commune.

The cave was recognised as a national scenic spot in 2014.
